DSTv Pricing Review Committee Granted One-Week Extension

Communications Minister Sam George has approved an additional week for the stakeholder committee reviewing DSTv pricing in Ghana. Originally scheduled to conclude its work earlier, the committee will now deliver its final report by September 29, 2025.

The National Communications Authority (NCA) announced the extension on September 23, explaining that the extra time will allow the committee to finalize its recommendations and fully address the Minister’s concerns regarding DSTv’s pricing structure.

Formed on September 8, 2025, the committee’s role is to build consensus on DSTv pricing and propose commercially sound solutions that satisfy all involved parties. It is also tasked with developing a strategy to combat the unauthorized use of DSTv decoders and services imported from Nigeria.

The NCA noted that while the committee has made notable progress, further time is needed to complete stakeholder consultations and align differing viewpoints.

This review comes in response to rising public frustration over the cost of DSTv subscriptions and ongoing issues with cross-border piracy affecting the Ghanaian market.
